Fly Day .. arrive in Port-au-Prince

Hey Haiti Friends

We spent most of our day in airports and on airplanes.  Our team was completed when we got to Miami and Sammie joined us from Texas.  We spent time in the Miami airport meeting in with our sub sports teams and planning our activities for the week.  We also had a chance to meet  another Healing Haiti team which was traveling to Haiti.

And we got to meet the Five Oaks Haiti missions team.  They were heading to an orphanage north of Port-au-Prince that is supported by Five Oaks church. They all knew Jay ;)  Sara Bower, Leslie & Ron Schleg, and Nicole Ezekia.  Super fun!

We are staying in guest house #1 this week.  We had a wonderful taco meal at the house and had an overview session of our week in Haiti with the Healing Haiti staff.  It was truly inspirational.

In the morning we will help deliver water.  Healing Haiti delivers water 6 days a week to a poor area of Haiti.

Everyone is doing great.  We are tired and are looking forward to getting sleep tonight.

It has got to be 90+ degrees here right now at 10PM.  Whew

What an honor to get to be part of this service.

Thanks for being our fans

Bags need to be under 50lbs

Hi Haiti Friends

Our team met this afternoon at Fitness Focus in Mahtomedi (Thanks FF) to spread out all the Sports Camp trip supplies and distribute them in our large suitcases.  We weighed each suitcase to ensure it was under its 50 pound limit. Two entire suitcases were filled with deflated basketballs and soccer balls.  We spent some time praying for our trip and discussed an overview of our week.

We have 3 dramas that we will be doing for the kids during our large group meetings and we had a chance to practice them a little bit this afternoon.  A sneak peek at the dramas ... Reporter Suzie Sweatysocks will be interviewing three unique sports teams who are visiting Haiti during our sports camp week:  The Weigh-less lifting team, the Blindfolded Basketball team and the Synchronized swimming team.  I am sure they will be captivating interviews and demonstrations. We'll try to catch a pic of the teams. ;)

Stay tuned ..  Thanks for your love and support!

-Pete

PS.  We meet at the airport at 4AM tomorrow (Monday).

Haiti Sports Camp Team Prepping for Departure

Hi Haiti Sports Camp Friends

Our Healing Haiti team of 13 lead by Sue and Shannon is getting ready to head out to Haiti on Monday July 28th.  Each of us will pack some personal items in a carry on bag and then we each will pack a large suitcase with supplies for our daily Sports Camp such as basketballs, frisbees, tap-dance shoes, ropes, skateboards, soccer balls, snacks for kids, T-shirts for kids, drama props, water bottles, relay costumes, kick balls...

We will be spending time each day in the Grace Village orphanage, building relationships with the kids through sports, dance, crafts and devotional dramas. On at least one day we will be helping to deliver water with the huge water trucks.

We will be flying from Miami to Port-au-Prince, Haiti, which is about an hour flight. From the airport to Grace Village is about an hour drive in a big cargo truck known as a Tap-Tap.

We hope to provide a blog entry each day of our adventures as time and internet connections permit.  Hopefully this entry gets you started.  We so appreciate your support and prayers for this trip.
